Indigenous People’s Policy

Tri-Gen acknowledges the rich diversity of Indigenous Peoples living in the regions where we work and operate. We recognize  that the historical experiences of Indigenous Peoples in Canada have had lasting, detrimental effects on their social and economic well-being. Tri-Gen values the importance of reconciliation between Indigenous communities and the broader society. We believe that building strong, respectful relationships with Indigenous Peoples—centered on mutual understanding and

shared objectives—can lead to positive and lasting outcomes for Indigenous communities and their members. Tri-Gen is committed to fostering sustainable partnerships with Indigenous Nations and groups located near our areas of operation. To support this commitment, we are guided by the following principles:

Honesty

We are dedicated to open, honest, and respectful consultation with Indigenous Peoples regarding Tri-Gen’s activities. Our goal is to engage early and meaningfully, allowing their perspectives to shape the planning and execution of projects on traditionally used lands.

Opportunities

We are committed to creating opportunities that benefit Indigenous Peoples through our projects and operations. These include access to training, education, employment, procurement, business development, and community-based initiatives.

Awareness

We promote awareness and understanding of Indigenous history and culture among Tri-Gen employees and contractors to help build stronger, more respectful relationships with                       Indigenous communities.

Legal Rights

We acknowledge the legal and constitutional rights of Indigenous Peoples in Canada, as well as the deep connection they maintain with their traditional lands and resources. We pledge to work collaboratively with Indigenous communities in a way that respects these rights and traditional territories, and we will ensure our projects are developed with environmental responsibility at the forefront.

UNDRIP

We affirm the relevance of the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP), recognizing its importance within the framework of Canadian law and the commitments made by governments to uphold Indigenous rights.

This commitment is shared by everyone at Tri-Gen—our company, affiliates, employees, and contractors—and we strive to conduct our business in a way that reflects these principles. Tri-Gen will continue to provide leadership, resources, and strategic guidance to ensure these commitments are effectively carried out, including through the creation of actionable plans and initiatives. We will also review this policy regularly to ensure it remains relevant and aligned with evolving expectations.
