Purpose: Assist in Repairing, Overhauling, Maintenance and assisting with Servicing of Heavy Equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • With assistance from a Journeyman Heavy duty mechanic they must learn how to interpret work orders and technical manuals.
  • Keep equipment cleaned, lubricated and maintained and with guidance assist
    Journeyman Heavy Duty Mechanic with diagnosing  faults or malfunctions.
  • Adjust equipment and repair or replace defective parts, components or systems.
  • Test repaired equipment for proper performance and ensure that the work done meets
    manufacturers' specifications and legislated regulations.
  • Write service reports with a Journeyman’s Assistance.

Skills/Abilities:

  • Strength and stamina required to work with heavy equipment and work in
    cramped or awkward positions.
  • Good vision, hearing and sense of smell for diagnosing problems.
  • Mechanical ability and an interest in machinery and engines.
  • The ability to think logically and keep up with changes in technology.
  • Ability to work alone or as a team.

Experience: Minimum one year experience required.

Other: Valid driver's licence, willing to travel, remote locations.
